Need For Positive Thinking In Self Development For Life And Sport

positive thinking

Today’s world is dominated by hectic work style and stressful lives. People are losing their self-confidence and are unable to cope with the challenges. The need to succeed at every point, the need to do well in life overpowers them, proving hazardous to their efficiency. Their expectations rise and they start finding faults in everything, even their own actions. They adopt a negative attitude and they habitually become brooding personalities. This not only affects them mentally but their physical ability is also diminished. People are not even aware about their shortcomings. They do not know that they are overstressed and that they need to change their way of live if they want to succeed. Some of them turn to smoking or drinking while others find recluse in more dangerous stuff like drugs. There are only a handful of people who are ready to admit that they need some help.

What most people do not realize is that there is a thin line between mental fitness and physical one. Constant brooding, low self esteem and a lack of motivation not only takes a toll on one’s mental stress but it is visible in their bearing also. There is a need to adopt positive thinking to overcome the negative effect stress takes on them. People need to assess what is affecting them; they must change their way of looking at things. Changing those negative thoughts into positive ones, looking at the brighter side of the darker times will always help in creating a positive outlook on life. [Read more →]

Are you a Real Positive Thinker!

positive thinking

“No positive thinking can get you anything,

But it can get everything better than negative thinking can” - Zig Ziglar

Positive thinking is a favorite topic of most self help books and inspirational speakers. So, much has been written and said about it that I had started feeling that I can get anything simply my thinking positively about it. In fact, many life coaches (including myself in past) advocated positive thinking as a quick fix for all. I plead guilty of telling people that their failure can be attributed to their not being positive enough.

Over years I realized that simply thinking positively will not accomplish anything. The kind of positive thinking that a lot of people talk about is in a way denial of reality. It is great to think positive and speak positive. But what it can accomplish if it is not supported by the ability and skill. I am 34, and have never played football in my life. It does not matter how positive I think or speak, I can not become a professional footballer at this age. Simply because, to become a professional footballer, one has to start young and then acquire skill and ability over number of years. [Read more →]

How to Think Positive and Stop Thinking Negative

positive thinking

Positive thinking is a good trait that if everyone had in their lives would make the world a lot better of a place to live in. But the funny thing is that not everyone agrees that positive thinking is a good thing. People who think negatively often think they are being very realistic and that positive thinkers are just lying to themselves.

These people must realize that thinking positively, no matter what happens, or what the situation maybe means you are far more likely to succeed in life because you do not give up so early and you like to remain optimistic. The longer you try and put effort into a situation, the more probable it is you are going to succeed. That is just simple logic.

Negative thinkers must realize this. Positive thinkers do not always expect everything to work out, in fact they know things are going to go wrong but they do know how to apply a positive spin when things go wrong. They know how to add an ‘at least’ in their sentence when stuff fails to go as planned. For example, they would say “I did not get the job but at least I know what to say at the next interview when I go for a job like that.” is a perfect example of an at least situation. That is being realistic and at the same time not letting yourself get too down about a situation, realizing that there is hope for another time. [Read more →]

The Truth About Affirmations

affirmations

Over the years I’ve said countless affirmations. I’ve collected them, studied them and written my own, for myself, as well as for clients. One day recently, I went through my overgrown collection of affirmations, in an attempt to simplify them. My goal was to narrow them down to 12 perfect affirmations.

I ended up with zero affirmations and a liberating revelation: There is such a thing as trying too hard. Sometimes we become spiritually crowded by our tools and techniques.

In this world of instant gratification, we are conditioned to go from “here” to “there” immediately. Yet, the things that bring about change in our lives are the things in between “here” and “there.” We use affirmations to convince ourselves that we are already “there,” experiencing the changes we are hoping for. And we miss the process along the way. We not only forget to stop and smell the roses, we try to bypass them entirely. If you want to go somewhere, you must start where you are. [Read more →]

Law of Attraction: Jack and the Rock

Law of Attraction

There is a person many of us know. They act very ignorant and spiteful towards other people, including their own family. They know they are always, not just some of the time but, always, right. No one wants to be around them, but they do give them attention simply because they are ‘family’. They have married into the family as an in-law and have been such a pain ever since. Many of us have already experienced this, many have fortunately not. But for those of us who have, we always go back to the same thought in reference to this particular person. That ever lasting wonder of “how in the world could any human being act like such a jack ass?” Now I am now calling anyone names, I am merely stating the very first thing it seems this particular person acts like.

How does this behavior become so strong that it takes over their entire character even though no one wants to be even 5 feet away from them in a room? This particular person I have noticed likes to only focus on the things that are going wrong in his life. He does not show any form of appreciation for good deeds done for him, he just sees where they ‘messed up’. [Read more →]

Call Of The Hour Positive Thinking To Manage Pressure And Positively Thrive On It

positive thinking

Stress can be divided into mental, emotional and physiological reactions of the body. Stress at times has the positive impact on the individual as helps in boosting the work abilities of an individual. But as excess of everything is bad, so is the excess of stress which can be detrimental for an individual.

The events, which give birth to the situation of stress, are known as stressors, such as per pressure among kids, generation gap between the parents and the individuals, increasing workload at the work place and meeting out the expectations in a relationship. The condition of stress can also crop up when an individual is tormented or is bare to violence. A child can face the condition of stress when he or she is not able to cope up with the school curriculum or is facing problem with some particular subject or a teacher. Also, smoking is the major cause of stress, as opposed to the general belief that it helps in mood alterations. After great research, it has been proven that dependency of nicotine heightens the level of stress. [Read more →]

Thinking Positively

positive thinking

Thinking positively allows you to channel positive energy within you. Positive thoughts help to promote positive attitude and elevate your mood.

By being negative, we focus that energy to the point where it’s hard to correct situations or even to be motivated. And it also brings you down and makes you angry. What’s the point of feeling like this?

We Control Our Thoughts

We are generally in complete control of our thoughts. We have conversations with ourselves. Some people mumble out aloud, while others have it silently in their heads.

When you have fears, phobias, panic attacks, anxiety disorders and other mental issues, it is incredibly important to maintain a positive attitude and to think positively. [Read more →]

The Willful Abuse of Positive-Thinking

positive thinking

Here I am again with another story. I was reading about Admiral James Stockdale, highest ranking officer in the “Hanoi Hilton” in Viet Nam as written by author Thomas Barnett. Stockdale spent eight years as a prisoner of war in Hanoi and was tortured numerous times by his captors. Four of his eight years were in solitary.
Mr. Barnett writes: “Stockdale tells the story of the optimists who never survived their time in Hanoi simply because they clung far too much to their dreams of release and in doing so couldn’t handle the brutal realities of what it took to survive the day to day.”
He goes on to explain how they tended to cling to the hope that they’d be home by the next holiday. When that day came and went their spirit sank to a new depth. Over time, they died because their courage had been done in by the reality of their present circumstances. Stockdale believed that while you must always believe that you will prevail in the end, it should not be confused with current reality, whatever that might be. [Read more →]

Do You Lack Inspiration?

inspiration

Inspiration is a powerful thing and it can really help you to change your life. Without inspiration people tend to give up trying to change their lives, and for those who do still try; they find it an impossible journey because there is nothing to give them any motivation to carry on. So just how do you find inspiration?

Inspiration is all Around You

Every single one of us is different and we all strive for different things. Due to these differences the things which give us inspiration also differs. Make Thinking your Art Form

positive thinking

Make a choice of something that you would like to have different in your life. Choose to focus on how you would like it to be different. Notice what that difference would mean to you, how you would know it was different, how it would feel. Notice how it feels to just consider the possibility. Spend thirty seconds or more enjoying it in your imagination.

Most of us consider thinking to be a passive thing, a time of doing nothing (or perhaps “not much, just thinking”). Yet, just the opposite is true; thinking is your most powerful activity. For most of us, most of the time, thoughts and life just happen, and then we deal with it, or we don’t. John Lennon’s famous comment, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”, describes how most of us really feel about it. Consider instead the possibility that all of your life experiences are dictated by your thinking. [Read more →]
